Haryana Assembly dissolved: Congress claims move as 'desperate bid' to avoid Constitutional crisis

Chandigarh (Haryana) [India], September 12 (ANI): After Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya dissolved the state assembly on Thursday, the Congress Party claimed that the move was a desperate bid to avoid a constitutional crisis born out of the government's inaction.
Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh wrote on X, "Haryana Governor today dissolved the state assembly to avert a constitutional crisis triggered by the state government's failure to convene an assembly session from March 13, 2024, a day after the swearing-in of the chief minister."
"The assembly session was deliberately not called for six months because once the MLAs came to the House, it would have been proved once and for all that the BJP does not have a majority in the assembly," he added.
Ramesh alleged that the Chief Minister remained in his post without the people's mandate, exuding confidence that after the declaration of results of the Haryana Assembly Polls, the BJP will have to adjust to the new reality.
"The Chief Minister remained in his post even though he knew that he did not have the people's mandate. This is a tearing apart of democracy by a party that no longer understands how to live without a hold on power. But after October 8, 2024, they will have no choice but to adjust to the new reality," the Congress leader said.
Earlier, Governor Dattatreya announced the dissolution of the Haryana Legislative Assembly with immediate effect on Thursday. "This action has been taken as per the powers conferred on the Governor under clause (2) subsection (b) of Article 174 of the Indian Constitution," the official Twitter handle of the Haryana government posted.
Meanwhile, parties including Aam Aadmi Party, Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party, JJP (Jannayak Janta Party), and INLD (Indian National Lok Dal) have released their candidates list for the Haryana Assembly polls.
The last date for filing nominations is September 12. The voting for the 90-member legislative assembly in Haryana will be held on October 5. Votes will be counted on October 8. (ANI)
