Hariprasad resigned because Odisha results weren't good: Congress
New Delhi [India], Mar. 13 (ANI): The Congress Party on Monday said B.K. Hariprasad resigned from the post of general secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) because Zilla Parishads results of Odisha were not good. "As I have been told, he resigned because Zilla Parishads results of Odisha were not good and therefore Hariprasad resigned in order to strengthen the hands of Rahul Gandhi so he (Gandhi) could have his own team and may take decisions in regards to whom he would like to have as his office bearers," Congress spokesperson Brijesh Kalappa told ANI. Owning moral responsibility for the Congress Party's dismal performance in elections to the Zilla Parishads of Odisha, Hairprasad has tendered resignation to the general secretary post of the AICC and membership of the AICC Working Committee. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has shunted out the Congress from the position of the principal opposition party in the local bodies' elections in Odisha. Congress leaders of the state blamed Hariprasad, who is in-charge of Odisha, for the party's failure in the Zilla Parishad polls. (ANI)
