New Delhi [India], June 6 (ANI): After the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) unanimously selected Narendra Modi as their leader, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Thursday said he was happy that Narendra Modi would be going to take oath as PM again.
According to sources, the BJP asked all newly elected Members of Parliament (MPs) and its Chief Ministers to reach Delhi on Thursday and CM Yadav arrived here for the same.
Speaking to reporters in the national capital, CM Yadav said, "The dedicated Prime Minister, who has a long administrative experience and who has made the impossible possible, has given such a big victory to the NDA alliance and it is a matter of good fortune for all of us. At a time when the whole world is looking towards India in the 21st century, the formation of the cabinet of such a person will make all of us proud. I am happy that he (PM Modi) is going to take the oath."
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to take oath for third successive term in office on June 9, sources said.
Earlier there was speculation that the swearing-in ceremony of the new NDA government led by PM Modi would take place on Saturday.
On Wednesday the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) unanimously passed a resolution to elect Narendra Modi as their leader for the third time. This decision was taken during a crucial meeting held at the Prime Minister's official residence in Delhi.
The NDA leaders expressed their admiration for Prime Minister Modi's leadership and the progress made by the nation under his guidance over the past decade.
As per the results announced by the Election Commission of India on Tuesday, the BJP won 240 seats and the Congress 99 seats. The BJP victory tally was much lower than its 2019 tally of 303 and the 282 seats it had won in 2014. The Congress, on the other hand, registered a strong growth, winning 99 seats compared to 52 that it had won in 2019 and 44 seats in 2014. (ANI)
