Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], May 23 (ANI): Condemning the act of West Bengal police of halting BJP's roadshow on Thursday, Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha said that "jungle raj" is prevailing in the state.
The Chief Minister said that the West Bengal police stopped the BJP's roadshow saying that there is no prior permit for it. He stated that the party had obtained written permission to carry out the roadshow.
Saha said, "We just started our roadshow but the police stopped us. They said we couldn't go ahead as we didn't have permission. However, we have submitted a written copy of our permission. We already have permission. But they have stopped us. This is Jungle Raj. This is the election period. Can't we campaign for the poll? I strongly condemn it."

He further criticized the leadership in West Bengal, saying, "A burning example of arrogance and tyranny is the lady of Bengal! Beyond all the limits of shamelessness, the incident of blocking the roadshow organised at Hazra Road in support of Debashree Chowdhury by the police is nothing but an insult to the democratic state system and the constitution. The democracy-loving people of Bengal will not tolerate this injustice and tyranny anymore. They must answer it through voting."
Notably, the rally was held in support of the BJP candidate from Kolkata and former Union Minister Debashree Chowdhury.
Polling in West Bengal is being held in seven phases of Lok Sabha polls. Polling has already been done in five phases and the voting for the remaining two phases will be held on May 25 and June 1. Votes will be counted on June 4.
In the sixth phase, polling will be held on May 25 in Tamluk, Kanthi, Ghatal, Jhargram, Medinipur, Purulia, Bankura, and Bishnupur. (ANI)
