"Haath badlega halaat": Rahul Gandhi highlights three "historic resolutions" for social justice at Ahmedabad's AICC convention

In a post on X, Rahul Gandhi stressed three historic resolutions: to abolish the 50 per cent cap on reservations, implement a legal framework for the SC/ST Sub Plan to give these classes a share in the budget based on their population, and enforce the right to reservation in private educational institutions for SCs, STs, and OBCs.

New Delhi [India], April 10 (ANI): Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Thursday highlighted the three "historic" decisions for strengthening "social justice" adopted in the party's 'Nyaypath' resolution during the All India Congress Committee (AICC) session held in Ahmedabad on the banks of the Sabarmati river.
The two-day AICC convention ended on Wednesday.
"Yesterday, at the AICC Ahmedabad convention 'Nyayapath', the Congress took three historic resolutions to strengthen social justice by giving a share to the Bahujans of the country," he said.
"We will abolish the 50% limit on reservation by bringing a national law. Will give legal shape to SC/ST Sub Plan by making a central law and will give share in the budget to these classes on the basis of their population and enforce the right to reservation in private educational institutions for SCs, STs and OBCs as provided in Article 15 (5) of the Constitution," the Lok Sabha LoP said.
The Congress leader called on the Bahujan community to support these initiatives, emphasizing that unity would bring about positive change.
"Haath ko mazboot banaye...kyuki haath badlega halaat (strengthen the hand... because hand will change the situation)", Rahul Gandhi said in a message to the "Bahujans" of the country.
Notably, "haath" here refers to the electoral symbol of the Congress.
The Congress on Wednesday accused the BJP-led government of a "relentless, systematic and conspiratorial attack" on India's constitutional institutions. It talked of changes in the party's organisational structure by empowering district units. Party chief Mallikarjun Kharge stated that those who cannot work for the party should take rest and those who can't discharge their duties should retire.
The 'Nyay Path' resolution adopted at the AICC session came down heavily on the BJP-led government, accusing it of "failure on economy, foreign affairs and betrayal with the farmers".
It called for reservations for OBCs, STs and SCs in private educational institutions and said this should be implemented without delay. (ANI)
