Guwahati: Northeast India fashion weekend to promote talent

Guwahati (Assam) [India], Dec. 18 (ANI): With the aim of promoting talent of the region, the FBB Northeast India Fashion Weekend has made a mark thanks to the efforts of Prasant Ghosh, Dipankar Kashyap and Sanjay Choudhury.

Guwahati (Assam) [India], Dec. 18 (ANI): With the aim of promoting talent of the region, the FBB Northeast India Fashion Weekend has made a mark thanks to the efforts of Prasant Ghosh, Dipankar Kashyap and Sanjay Choudhury. All three say that their motive is to show and bring the latest fashion of the region onto a single platform. The second season of this signature event will see some big names such as Bibi Russel (designed for many Hollywood stars besides The Asia Week magazine highlighted her as "One of the 20 people to watch in the Millennium") participating. Russel was awarded the Honorary Fellowship of the London Institute in 1999. UNESCO awarded her the title Designer for Development in 1999. She also got the title of Artist for Peace by the UNESCO in 2001 and the Peace Prize by the United Nations Associations of Spain in 2004. She also worked as a fashion model in fashion shows until 1994, working with Yves Saint Laurent, Kenzo, Karl Lagerfeld and Giorgio Armani. Having returned to Bangladesh in 1994, Bibi opened Bibi Productions, a fashion house, fusing indigenous Bengali cultural elements into her line. As of 2004, her company has employed 35,000 weavers in rural Bangladesh. Top Indian designer Suvagata Das (West Bengal) Tejas Gandhi (Delhi), Azam Khan (Bangladesh) Kuenga (Bhutan) and 30 other big and upcoming designers will be a part of this two-day event. Delhi, Kolkata, Bhutan, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya are few states from where designers have come in to join hands and be a part of the big event. Ghosh, Kashyap and Choudhury will also showcase their collections. Along with Prasant Ghosh and Dipankar Kashyap along with other budding choreographers would also choreograph the Mega event. Besides, Mrs. Asia International winner 2015-Nupur Saigal, Mr United Continent winner 2016 -Mohit Singh, Mr India Tourism world winner -Sanju Ray, India's Next top model 2016 winners Subhamita Banerjee and Jantee Hazarika, Mrs India Earth Roshni Hassan , Assamese Film fraternity stars like Nishita Goswami, Barsha Rani Bishaya, Tanvi Sharma, Diganta Hazarika, Ankur Bishaya and Utpal Das will also walk the ramp. FBB- the Northeast India Fashion Weekend -2016 second edition) is a platform specially designed to expose north east designers along with other leading designers of India and neighbouring countries. A special winter collection and fashion sequence from Donate Eyes will feature at the event. PETA has come in as the main supporter of the event last season. (ANI)
