Gujarat: PM Modi unveils various schemes for tribal development in Limkheda
Dahod (Gujarat) [India], Sept. 17 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi today unveiled various schemes worth nearly Rs. 3,800 crore at Limkheda in Dahod district of Gujarat on his 66th birthday. Prime Minister Modi handed over land ownership documents to tribal people and inaugurated various water management schemes. During the address, the Prime Minister talked about the rapid development in Gujarat. He emphasised that the government is dedicated to the welfare of the poor and marginalized. "I know that the farmer here is very skilled and I have also seen the farmer is innovative and willing to learn new things. On Day 1, I had said that ours is a government that is dedicated to the welfare of the poor, the marginalised. Mantra of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' is resonating all over, said Prime Minister Modi. "When Gujarat was formed, people raised questions on whether Gujarat will develop but today we can see the state has developed. Water scarcity remained a key issue in Gujarat. At times we would get adequate rainfall but we weren't able to conserve water," he said. The programme has been organised under the Gujarat Vanbandhu Kalyan Yojna for the districts lying in the state's forest belt. The projects include six water supply and four lift irrigation projects. The water supply projects will provide drinking water to about 21 lakh people residing in 960 villages, including 23 settlements in the Dahod, Mahisagar, Narmada and Chhotaudepur districts. The lift irrigation projects based on Kadana-Karjan and Kakrapar Reservoirs will provide irrigation in nearly one lakh hectares in Dahod, Narmada, Mahisagar and Surat districts. (ANI)
