Gujarat Civic Polls: BJP's win shows people's strong faith in development politics, says PM Modi
New Delhi [India], Nov, 29 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that the Gujarat bypolls result illustrates that people want all-round progress of the nation and will not tolerate corruption and mis-governance. "I salute people of Gujarat for continued trust in BJP. BJP's great win in local polls shows people's strong faith in development politics. These results across India illustrate that people want all-round progress of the nation and will not tolerate corruption and misgovernance," Prime Minister Modi tweeted. Congratulating the state party unit, Prime Minister Modi also thanked the people of Gujarat for showing faith in the party. "Congratulations to @BJP4Gujarat Karyakartas, CM @vijayrupanibjp & @jitu_vaghani for their hardwork work across the state. Over the last few days we have seen the results of various polls, Parliamentary, Assembly & local polls across India. Be it the Northeast, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat...BJP has performed very well. I thank the people," he said in a series of tweets. Reacting to the polls results, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani told ANI that the Poll results clearly show that extreme steps taken by the Prime Minister, like the surgical strike and demonetisation have, worked. Union Minister for Human Resource Development Prakash Javedkar also hailed BJP's victory in state civic bypolls and said, "Results of local body polls in Gujarat and Maharashtra show that people of the country support government's fight against black money." After shinning in the Maharashtra civic polls, the BJP on Tuesday won the municipal and district panchayt elections in Gujarat. Out of 126 municipal and district panchayat seats in 16 districts, the BJP has won 109 seats, gaining 40 seats from the Congress. The Congress has however, managed to win only 17 seats. In Maharashtra, the ruling BJP has made big gains in the first phase of key civic elections winning 851 of 3,705 seats across 147 municipal councils and 17 panchayats. BJP candidates have won in 52 councils where council chiefs were elected directly. (ANI)
