Guilty people obvious to make such false statements: Swamy on P. Rama Mohana Rao
New Delhi [India], Dec. 27 (ANI): After former chief secretary of Tamil Nadu P. Rama Mohana Rao raised several questions about the 'unconstitutional' raids at his residence and claimed it to be a 'political vendetta', Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday said people caught 'red handed' are obvious to make such false statements. BJP senior leader Subramanian Swamy told ANI if nothing is found from Rama Mohana's residence and if he believes his fundamental right is being violated then he should file a petition in the Madras High Court. "All people caught red handed will make these false statements. He says he doesn't know Shekar Reddy which is rubbish. That is an outrageous lie. He has been the head of the administration and for his to talk in this loose manner, I am really surprised. In fact there is plenty of evidences against him and plenty of evidences against lot of people in Tamil Nadu too," he said. Swamy said these raids are good signals to junior officers' that if it can happen to the chief secretary it can happen to you too. "The time has come where the Prime Minister has become very clearly where he says that fighting corruption is the top most priority," he added. Rao, whose house and was raided by income tax sleuths in connection with a tax evasion case, today claimed that he is being targeted and feared his life is in danger. Addressing media, Rao claimed that he was placed under 26 hour house arrest and added that the raids on his premises were carried out at gun point. He also criticised the Centre for usurping the sovereignty of the state government and allowing income officials raid his house without seeking the chief minister's permission. He also alleged that income tax officials and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) carried a search warrant in his son's name. Asserting that he still holds the post of chief secretary of Tamil Nadu, Rao said, "This government has no guts to serve me the copy of a transfer order. I am the chief secretary of Tamil Nadu appointed by Amma." Rao denied any links with sand mining baron and Tirumala Tirupati Devasthana member Shekar Reddy. The Tamil Nadu government thereafter replaced Rao and had appointed Additional Chief Secretary Girija Vaidyanathan as the new chief secretary. (ANI)
