Govt. would misuse budget presentation, try to allure voters: Congress

New Delhi [India], Jan. 5 (ANI): Showing strong resentment against the pre-polling of the budget session, the Congress on Thursday asserted that the government would misuse the opportunity and would try to allure the voters. "This gives unfair advantage to the government. It will influence the voters. It is clear that the government will misuse the budget presentation and the President's Address to both the houses of parliament which is customary to make announcements, popular schemes, and also try to allure the voters," Congress leader Anand Sharma told ANI. Knocking the door of the Election Commission, Sharma informed that opposition parties in unison have written to President Pranab Mukherjee and the Chief Election Commissioner. "We have jointly represented to the Rashtrapati ji that pre-polling of the presentation of budget should not be allowed. Opposition parties have also written to the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and communication has been sent to the representation, to the Election Commission as a whole," he said. Reiterating their demand of delaying the budget presentation, Sharma said it is important to accept this request. "It is important that the request of the opposition is accepted and the presentation of the budget is delayed until the polling in all the states is over," he added. A united opposition will visit the office of the Election Commission today to discuss about the date of the Budget Session. "Trinamool, Congress, SP, BSP, JDU, RJD & some other Oppn parties to meet Election Commission 11am. Subject : budget date too close to polls," TMC Rajya Sabha MP Derek O'Brien tweeted. (ANI)
