Govt. wants to run away from discussion on real issues: Congress

New Delhi [India], July 19 (ANI): The Congress on Wednesday downplayed the Centre's allegation that the grand old party is halting parliamentary business and asserted that it is trying to table concerns of the nation which the latter does not want to discuss. Congress leader Randeep Surjewala said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) cadre on the floor of the house is running away from discussions raised by his party, while adding that the saffron outfit does not wishes to be held accountable for the problems the country is facing. Averring that the Congress will not let the BJP escape Surjewala said, "the Congress as a responsible opposition prepared a list of issues to be raised in the parliament. These issues pertain to the problems faced by the nations and of which the Centre is answerable. And for this session of the Parliament the AICC research team had finalized issues of plight of farmers, unemployment and woes of Dalits, Mob lynching, GST and its aftermath and our team tried to table these issues in the parliament for discussion." "The BJP is manipulating our documents which include the list of issues for discussion and is dubbing it as an instrument to disrupt Parliamentary business. I on the behalf of the Congress challenge Prime Minister Narendra Modi to allow discussion on the above mentioned issues. When the member of the Parliament from the Congress party raise any issue on the floor of the house it is made sure that they keep well researched and valid facts and Centre by criticizing all these important issues is ridiculing the democracy. BJP has the habit of exaggerating issues. The Centre does not want to run the Parliament it wants to run away from its responsibility and does not want to be held answerable," he added. The BJP earlier in the day said that the Congress is trying to interrupt the Parliament Monsoon session and termed the documents in the Parliament as 'dossier of disruption'. "The Congress is trying to interrupt the Parliament Monsoon session. The key points Congress mentioned in the documents to be discussed in the Parliament is not the 'key' claimed by the party's internal strategy team. I would call it a conspiracy to put a lock in the development story of India. I would call this the 'dossier of disruption'," BJP leader Sambit Patra said while addressing the media. He further said that the grand old party always tries to plot conspiracies to politicise issues like cow protection and mob lynching. One the third day of the monsoon session, the members of the Opposition belonging to the Congress, the Trinamool Congress (TMC), Left, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) staged a walkout in the Lok Sabha after the House met at 12 noon after the first adjournment. As the House resumed, in the Zero Hour, Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge demanded immediate discussion on farmers' plight and suicides. Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, while rejecting the adjournment motion, said the issue would be discussed as it is listed under 193 in the business of the House. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar also pleaded with the Opposition members saying the Government is committed for welfare of farmers. However, unrelenting Opposition members staged a walkout. The Opposition is likely to raise the issue of China, Jammu and Kashmir and Darjeeling unrest, impact of Goods and Service Tax (GST) and other issues. (ANI)
