New Delhi [India], December 9 (ANI): Congress MP Pramod Tiwari on Monday lashed out at the Central government over the ongoing disruptions in Parliament and said that the government is trying to prevent the House from functioning. He further called for a debate on critical issues such as Adani, farmers, and the situation in Manipur.
"The government is trying to not let the House function... Its image is worsening among people. We want the House to function and to have a debate on Adani, farmers and Manipur issue..." said the Congress MP.
Addressing the farmers' issue, Pramod Tiwari said, "Farmers want to come here (in Delhi). They are in very limited numbers, they should be allowed. The government should listen to their demand. They (protesting farmers) are demanding things not for their own but for farmers and the country."

Meanwhile, Congress Rajya Sabha MP Digvijaya Singh also expressed his dissatisfaction with the way the House is being managed. He said, "I have been in government, in opposition, as an MLA and also as an MP from 1977, but, in my entire political career, I have never seen such a biased chairman... He doesn't let us speak but makes everyone (from the govt) speak, one by one..."

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi also slammed the government and said that they are not letting the House function, adding to which she stated, " They are raising issues which are not in the national interest..."

Lashing out at the centre, CPI (Communist Party of India) MP P Sandosh Kumar said, "It's very clear that - this is a well calculated, deliberate, but shameful attempt to save Adani... The ruling front is trying to save Adani. We will not allow this, the entire opposition is united in this regard."

Questioning the Congress party over alleged links with George Soros, BJP MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy said, "The way opposition behave in the House - it remains a big question before Congress that why they don't want the House to function. Why Congress is running away from having a discussion (regarding George Soros' alleged links). Is there anything related to any kind of give and take? Was there any nexus? Was there any effort to weaken India's democracy? Rahul Gandhi should answer all these."
The Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha proceedings were earlier adjourned till 2 pm amid a ruckus in the Parliament for the 12th day of the winter session on Monday.
Earlier, Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar while speaking during the ongoing Winter session of Parliament, expressed concern over the disruption of House proceedings, stating that the current session began as the country entered the 25th year of adopting the Indian Constitution.
He called on all members of Parliament to respect the sanctity of the House and avoid actions that hinder its functioning and emphasized that no one should paralyze the House, underlining the importance of parliamentary procedures and the need for constructive debate.
The twelfth day of the winter session saw opposition MPs including Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi hold a protest over the Adani matter, at the Parliament premises.
Rahul Gandhi joined Opposition MPs in their protest over the Adani matter. Members of the Trinamool Congress and Samajwadi Party did not participate in this protest.
The ongoing winter session of Parliament, which began on November 25, has faced repeated disruptions and is scheduled to continue until December 20. (ANI)
