Govt not to deploy Army for anti-Naxal operations
New Delhi [India], Apr 25 (ANI): Despite drawing flak post the Naxal attack in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district in which 25 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans lost their lives, the Centre has decided not to deploy the Indian Army for anti-Naxal operations. This development was confirmed by sources in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). Earlier in the day, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said the Centre will take a high-level meeting on eighth of next month to review its strategy against the Left Wing Extremism. Talking to reporters in Raipur, he said the strategy will be revised if needed in the wake of repeated incidents of Maoists violence. Calling yesterday's attack on the CRPF personnel to be a cold- blooded murder, he referred to the Maoists as the biggest enemies of tribals and poor. Earlier, the Union Home Minister paid homage to the 25 CRPF personnel. Chhattisgarh Governor Balramji Das Tandon, Chief Minister Raman Singh, Minister of State for Home Affairs Hansraj Ahir and senior state and paramilitary officials were also present on the occasion.
