New Delhi, Sept. 28 (ANI): In an effort to strengthen the Indian Army's capacity to face low intensity conflict, the Centre on Wednesday gave a green signal to acquire Electronic Warfare Systems at the cost of Rs.330 crore. According to sources, a proposal of Rs. 1900 crore has been approved today in the Defence Acquisition Council, where Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and all three service chiefs were present. The DAC gave its nod for the purchase of Anti-Tank Guided Munition (ATGM) for the training purposes, sources in the Ministry said after the meeting, which was chaired by Parrikar. The Electronic warfare system for the army intended for low intensity conflict, constitutes of jammers which will be used against militant, which will come as a major weapon against terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. Repair facility for the Naval dockyard, Mumbai will be set up for soon to be inducted Scorpene submarines at the cost Rs 725 crore, the sources said. Another proposal for setting up weapon repair facility also got the DAC approval. The facility will be set Port Blair at the cost of Rs 450 crores. (ANI)
