Hamirpur (Himachal Pradesh) [India], September 4 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Anurag Thakur on Wednesday targeted Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu over the financial crisis in the state, saying the government is benefiting its friends but is torturing government employees.
He also challenged Chief Minister Sukhu's claims that government is unable to disburse salaries as they opened 600 schools, colleges and hospitals, saying, "What else would a government do if they wouldn't open schools and hospitals?"
"What is the condition of Himachal Pradesh? Is any of you a pensioner? What is the date today? Did you get your pension? Did the government employees receive their salaries?... It is September 4, but there is no trace of salary. Himachal Pradesh never saw such bad days. 'Congress aayi, bure din laayi'... The arrival of Congress was bad news... The CM is saying that the BJP opened 600 schools, colleges and hospitals, and that is the reason that they are not able to disburse salaries... What else would a government do if they wouldn't open schools and hospitals? This government is benefiting its friends but it is torturing government employees,"
Earlier today, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu said the state employees will get their due salary on September 5.
Sukhu also said when his party was elected to power there was an economic crisis, and they brought it under control. He also said that the economy has improved by 20 per cent as compared to last year.
"They will get the salary tomorrow. It was a financial prudence, a financial discipline. The public has to be told that when we give you the salary five days before, we do that by taking a loan at an interest rate of 7.5 per cent at an expense of Rs 3 crore monthly for those 5 days. So, it has to be streamlined. So, our government is working towards this for financial reforms with an intent to streamline. When we came to power, there was an economic crisis, and we brought it under control, and rapid improvements are taking place. Economy has improved by 20 percent as compared to last year," he said.
