Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], April 20 (ANI): Taking a dig at former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray's remarks that he was ready to keep his issues aside with Raj Thackeray for the sake of Maharashtra's interest, Shiv Sena leader Kiran Jagannath said that situation of the state already became better under the tenure of Eknath Shinde.
The speculations in the political circles are rising over the possible reunion of estranged Thackeray brothers.
Shiv Sena leader said that those who have respect for party founder Bal Thackeray would be elated to hear Thackeray brothers joining hands.
"They are saying they will come together for the interest of Maharashtra, but the good has already happened in the state, even when you remained separated. The good happened because of people like Eknath Shinde, who didn't run a Facebook Live government. He visited each city and district to carry out works," Pawaskar told ANI.
"It is good and a matter of happiness that they have decided to get together for Maharashtra's interest. All those who have respect for Balasaheb Thackeray would be elated if the two brothers got together. However, would the Shiv Sainiks and MNS workers agree to it, given the reasons they separated?" he asked.
In a dig at Uddhav Thackeray, he credited Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde for taking care of the state's interests by not running a "Facebook Live government".
Meanwhile, Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday welcomed the possibility of a reunion between estranged cousins Raj Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray, calling it a "good" step. Speaking to reporters, Fadnavis said, "If the two come together, we will be happy about it. If people settle their differences, it is a good thing. What else can I say about it?"
Fadnavis was reacting to Raj Thackeray's recent statement in a podcast with filmmaker Mahesh Manjrekar, where he expressed willingness to reunite with his cousin Uddhav Thackeray by forgetting past differences.
Uddhav also responded positively, saying that he was ready to put aside disputes for the sake of the Marathi language and Maharashtra.
"What I want to say is I also appeal to all Marathi people to come together for the benefit of Maharashtra and Marathi," former Maharashtra CM said at an event. (ANI)
