Goa Police has taken immediate action: Parrikar on Irish woman murder case

Panaji [India], Mar.22 (ANI): Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Wednesday asserted that the state Police have taken an immediate action over the issue of the murder of an Irish woman. "Cases of crime against women have to be investigated, no matter how small an incident," Parrikar told the media here in connection with murder of the tourist. He also informed that the Goa Police is presently investigating the case. The 25-year-old victim came with a friend to participate in Holi celebrations in coastal Canacona village, known for its popular beach Palolem. She was found dead last Tuesday. The police control room was informed of an unclothed body in an open paddy field. While the first informer, a farmer and complainant in the case, only brought the police closer to the crime spot, her identity was unknown. Calls were made to all shack owners, people in the vicinity and the many informants on the beach strip between Agonda and Palolem. Goa police said that Facebook helped them get the first break in the case of the Irish woman's rape and murder as the social networking site helped them identify the victim.(ANI)
