Goa irrigation minister speaks out on Mhadei River Case

Panaji (Goa) [India] July 18 (ANI): In a recent letter issued by the Office of Water Resource Secretariat in Goa, Vinod Palyakar, the Minister for Water Resource in Goa, said that there will not be any compromise with Karnataka regarding the Mhadei River Case, whether it is through a legal course of action or any out-of court settlement. Karnataka and Goa have a long standing dispute over sharing the waters from the River Mhadei.

Panaji (Goa) [India] July 18 (ANI): In a recent letter issued by the Office of Water Resource Secretariat in Goa, Vinod Palyakar, the Minister for Water Resource in Goa, said that there will not be any compromise with Karnataka regarding the Mhadei River Case, whether it is through a legal course of action or any out-of court settlement. Karnataka and Goa have a long standing dispute over sharing the waters from the River Mhadei. Palyalkar accused Karnataka of playing 'dirty tricks' regarding the Mhadei River Case. Officials of water resources department and the legal teams of Goa were present in New Delhi for the Mhadei disputes tribunal hearing. According to the letter, Karnataka's case was weakened when they were grilled by Additional Solicitor General Atamaram Nadkarni. He also said that the Government of Goa is committed towards Goemkarponn and the Mhadei Case.(ANI)
