Panaji (Goa) [India], October 9 (ANI): Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant attributed the BJP's third time victory in Haryana Assembly elections to the development done by the "double-engine government" in the last 10 years.
In a post on X, CM Sawant congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President JP Nadda and Haryana CM Nayab Saini for the win.
"I congratulate PM Modi, HM Amit Shah, JP Nadda and Haryana CM Nayab Saini over the victory registered by the BJP in the Haryana assembly elections. This is the victory of our workers and the development done by the double-engine government in the last 10 years. People did not vote for Congress anywhere," the Goa CM said.
CM Sawant expressed happiness over the peaceful conduct of elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
"For the seats won in J&K, I thank the party workers. First time in J&K, elections were held without any casualties and with such huge participation...I want to thank the people of J&K and welcome the winning candidates of J&K. It is the first election after the abrogation of article 370," he said.
Earlier, Haryana CM Saini attributed the BJP's win to PM Modi and hailed his leadership.
"I want to thank the 2.80 crore people of Haryana for putting a stamp on the works of BJP for the third time. All this is only because of PM Modi. Under his leadership, we are moving forward. He spoke to me and gave his blessings. I had faith that the poor, farmers and the youth of Haryana would bless me," he said earlier.
Addressing party workers at BJP headquarters in Delhi, PM Modi said the party's victory in Haryana was an outcome of hard work of party workers.
"Jaha doodh-dahi ka khana, waisa hai apna Haryana. The people of Haryana have done wonders. Today is the sixth day of Navratri, the day of Maa Katyayani. Maa Katyayani is sitting on a lion with a lotus in her hand. She is blessing all of us. On such a holy day, lotus has bloomed in Haryana for the third time," PM Modi said.
The Prime Minister said no party has formed government in the state thrice successively.
BJP won Haryana Assembly elections for the third consecutive term winning 48 out of the 90 seats while Congress won 37 and AAP drew a blank. BJP's win broke exit poll predictions that signalled a clean sweep for Congress. (ANI)
