Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], October 1 (ANI): Like every year, this year too, the devotees made offerings to Lord Ganesha at the Lalbaugcha Raja in Mumbai with open hearts.
The offerings included cash and gold ornaments. The gifts donated during the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations at Lalbaugcha Raja in Mumbai are being auctioned, and the money received from donations and auctions will be used for social work, according to Sudhir Dalvi, Secretary, Lalbagh Institution.
This year, the offering made to Lord Ganesha includes a total of three and a half kilos of gold, which is worth approximately Rs 2.10 crore, he said.

Moreover, devotees have also offered about 64 kg of silver, which is worth about Rs 45 lakh. The total value of gold and silver jewellery is around Rs 2.5 crore.
The counting of donated cash is still going on. So far, 5 crore and 16 lakh have been counted in 8 days of counting, Sudhir Dalvi said.
It may take about two more days to complete the counting, and the total cash amount may cross Rs 8 crore.
Some devotees have also given Bappa two electric scooters as an offering. This price is said to be around Rs 3.5 lakh.
Ganesh Chaturthi celebrates the birth of Lord Ganesha. It is one of the most popular Hindu festivals. It is celebrated for 10 days and it is believed that during this time Lord Ganesha arrives on earth with his mother, Goddess Parvati, and showers blessings on the people. This year the festival commenced on September 19.
The history of the Lalbaugcha Raja is quite famous as it is the popular Ganesh idol of Lalbaugcha Raja Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal, located at Putlabai Chawl, a place of worship founded in 1934.
The Lalbaugcha Raja Ganapati idol has been taken care of by the Kambli family for over eight decades. (ANI)
