Geelani and Mirwaiz should also be investigated: BJP
New Delhi [India], July 25 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday said that separatist leaders Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq should also be investigated for alleged money laundering activities to create unrest in the Kashmir Valley. BJP Member of Parliament and former Union Home Secretary R.K. Singh told ANI this a day after the National Investigation Agency (NIA) confirmed the arrest of seven Hurriyat leaders on charges of money laundering for funding of terror-related activities and unrest. He added that the arrest of the separatist leaders will decrease unrest in the valley created and funded by Pakistan. "There have been many discussions regarding this topic, but there was no effect, and it is noted that the unrest in the valley increases after discussions with Pakistan. There is no point in conducting discussions. A follow up in this case is needed," said Singh. NIA Inspector General Alok Mittal told ANI, "We had registered a terror-funding case related to Jammu and Kashmir on May 30 this year under various sections of the IPC and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. Thereafter, we conducted wide ranging searches in several cities and collected incriminating documentary and electronic evidence. We have also seized a large amount of cash. Based on the evidence we have collected and subsequent examinations of the persons today, we have arrested seven persons --six from Srinagar and one from Delhi." (ANI)
