New Delhi [India], May 1 (ANI): Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday state that Mahatma Gandhi at the time of independence asked to "dissolve" Congress to which the party turned a deaf ear adding that now the public has "decided to fulfil it."
"At the time of independence, Mahatma Gandhi said that Congress should be dissolved but the Congress did not listen to him, so I think that now the public has thought and decided that whatever Mahatma Gandhi had said should be fulfilled. Now we will have to dissolve this Congress, I think the people will also agree to dissolve the Congress," Singh said while addressing an election rally in Delhi on Wednesday.
Rajnath Singh earlier in the day held a roadshow in support of BJP's North East Delhi candidate Manoj Tiwari.
He also expressed confidence in the BJP winning on all seats with a "thumping victory" in Delhi.
"I can say this with a guarantee that Manoj Tiwari has always advocated for the issues of the people of Delhi. I think in Delhi on all seats BJP will secure a thumping victory. From the last two phases of the elections, it's quite evident that the '400 paar' slogan we gave is going to be accomplished," the Defence Minister said.
The incumbent MP, Tiwari during the roadshow asserted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's return to office again this time with a "historic and memorable victory."
"Under the leadership of PM Modi, we are writing a new story of Vikas (development) and Virasat (heritage). A lot of things have happened and will happen. Our relationship with voters is of love and faith. We will make PM Modi Prime Minister again with a historic and memorable victory," Tiwari told ANI.
Tiwari, who is seeking a fresh term from the seat is pitted against Congress' Kanhaiya Kumar.
Voting in all seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi is scheduled to take place on May 25, during the sixth phase of the ongoing general elections. The counting for all seven phases is scheduled for June 4. (ANI)
