Karnal (Haryana) [India], May 24 (ANI): A day before the sixth phase of Lok Sabha voting, BJP candidate for Karnal Lok Sabha seat Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday visited the Baba Lakkar Nath temple in Bazida Roran to seek blessings.
Khattar will cast his vote at booth number 174 located in Prem Nagar on Saturday. While talking to the media, Khattar appealed to the public to vote in large numbers.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded Manohar Lal Khattar, a two-time Chief Minister of Haryana, as its candidate for the Karnal Lok Sabha seat. He will be contesting against Divyanshu Budhiraja from the Congress, Virender Maratha from the Sharad Pawar faction of the Nationalist Congress Party, and Devendra Kadyan from the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP).
This four-way battle makes the Karnal constituency a critical and closely watched contest in Haryana.
Polling will take place in the 10 Lok Sabha constituencies in Haryana and for the Karnal assembly by-poll on Saturday. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini is contesting the Karnal byelection.
Ten Lok Sabha constituencies in Haryana include Ambala, Bhiwani-Mahendragarh, Faridabad, Gurugram, Hisar, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Rohtak, Sirsa, and Sonipat.
The BJP had won all 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana in the 2019 general elections. In the 2014 elections, the BJP won 7 seats, while the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) won 2 seats and the Congress secured only one seat.
Campaigning ended for the sixth phase of Lok Sabha elections on Thursday in which 58 constituencies spread across eight states and a UT will go to the polls on Saturday.
The general elections are being held across seven phases. The first five phases were held on April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13, and May 20 while the subsequent phases are scheduled on May 25, and June 1. Votes will be counted on June 4. (ANI)
