New Delhi [India], July 13 (ANI): Slamming the BJP over the recently concluded by-poll, Congress leader Pawan Khera said on Saturday that for the second time in one and a half months, the people of the country gave a strong message to the BJP.
Notably, INDIA bloc won 10 out of 13 assembly seats, the BJP got two, and an independent won one seat.
Khera said, "These by-elections, which were held on 13 seats, are very important. For the second time in one and a half months, the people of the country gave a strong message to the BJP. The message was very clear in the Lok Sabha elections. In Uttarakhand, we won both our seats, Badrinath and Manglaur. In Himachal Pradesh, Congress won 2 out of 3 seats. And if you assess all 13 seats in total, the BJP got only 2."
"The people who were trying to destabilise the elected government have been taught a good lesson by the public today. One after another, people are rejecting BJP's politics because it lacks accountability, respect for democratic processes, and answers to the people's questions," he added.
Further, the Congress leader said that they have already started preparing for the four states where elections will be held shortly.
"In the upcoming elections in four states, all our workers, office bearers, and everyone involved are fully committed. We will not let the ideology we have struggled for over the past years weaken," he said.
Pawan Khera also alleged that officials in Amarwara, Madhya Pradesh, paused the vote counting and went for lunch.
"This might be the first time in history this has happened. The entire administration is coming together to defeat the Congress.," he added.
Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi said that the results of the by-elections in 7 states have made it clear that the web of 'fear and confusion' woven by the BJP has been broken.
In a post on X, Rahul said, "Every class including farmers, youth, labourers, businessmen and employed people want to completely destroy dictatorship and establish the rule of justice. The public is now completely standing with INDIA for the betterment of their lives and protection of the Constitution." (ANI)
