FIR filed against DCW chief for revealing identity of rape victim
New Delhi, July 26 (ANI): An FIR has been filed against Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal for allegedly revealing the identity of the Burari rape victim. The FIR has been filed under Section 228 (a) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). A 14-year-old Dalit girl died on Sunday at a Delhi hospital after being forced to drink a corrosive substance by a rape accused. The autopsy was carried out by a medical board at Maulana Azad Medical College on Monday. Maliwal had lashed out at the Centre and the Delhi Police on the issue of women's safety. "Yesterday, a 14-year-old rape victim died a very painful death in Delhi. And today again, a four-year-old girl has been raped in a very brutal manner. I just want to ask who is responsible for this?" Maliwal said. "The Central Government should set-up a high level committee in Delhi, which consists of Rajnath Singh ji, Arvind Kejriwal ji, the LG, Police Commissioner and the Delhi Commission of Women chief. And we need to meet every week and work in a coordinated fashion," she added. Maliwal further said it is high time that the Central Government must take cognizance of such matters. (ANI)
