Finance Ministry sets Oct.14 deadline for stakeholders' suggestions on FRDI Bill

According to a Lok Sabha bulletin issued on September 16, Lok Sabha Speaker has nominated Javed Ali Khan and James Pangsang Kongkal Sangma, Members of Rajya Sabha, as Special Invitees to the Joint Committee.

Bolstering the Government of India's push to institutionalise cleanliness and curb official pendency, the Ministry of Power and its associated entities, including autonomous bodies and Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSUs), have been actively driving the Special Campaigns since 2021, officials said.

In a major nationwide initiative towards building an inclusive, accessible and empowered India, the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India, through ALIMCO, organised Samajik Adhikarita Camps simultaneously at 76 locations across 21 States on September 17, 2026.

Public Accounts Committee chairperson KC Venugopal on Thursday said that the panel is examining “serious lapses by Railways” relating to passenger amenities that were found during the audit and noted that a meeting will be called again with Railway Ministry officials after a month to see if the shortcoming related to drinking water had been addressed.

While affordability and transparency in healthcare are important objectives shared by all stakeholders, the issue needs to be examined in its proper regulatory and administrative context, they said.
