"Finalised what all we'll do in next 100 days...prime focus will be education, youth empowerment": Arunachal CM Khandu

Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh) [India], June 13 (ANI): Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Thursday thanked the people of the state for the overwhelming mandate to the Bharatiya Janata Party and said that in the first cabinet meeting the newly formed government deliberated on a 100-day agenda and will focus on education, youth empowerment, tourism and sports.
Pema Khandu assumed charge as Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister after taking the oath for the third term consecutive term today.
In an interview with ANI, the three-time Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Khandu said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state would move towards development.
"This will be my third tenure as Chief Minister. In this state and the whole northeast, BJP delivered a lot after coming to power and people trusted us by looking at our work. That's why they elected us for the third time. There is pro-incumbency here. I want to thank the people of the state for electing our government. I also want to thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Under PM Modi's vision and leadership the state will move forward. We will witness a lot of development in the state," Arunachal Pradesh CM told ANI.
When asked about the key decisions taken in the first cabinet meeting of government held today, he said that the Arunachal government would work on 24 points and will focus on education, youth empowerment, and the promotion of tourism and sports.
"After the formation of the government, we have to set a target of 100 days. We had a cabinet meeting and we have finalised what we will be doing in the next 100 days. By enlarge we approved the 24 points. We will work on 24 points, in which the government's prime focus will be on education, youth empowerment, sports, and tourism. We have decided to make policies accordingly," CM Khandu asserted.
CM Khandu further said that the state government has today released 100 crores under Chief Minister's Social Security Scheme.
"After taking the oath I assumed the office we have first released 100 crores under Chief Minister's Social Security Scheme. This is for divyangjans (disabled people), old age pension. Our priority is that we have set a target for 100 days. Under PM Modi's leadership a lot of work will be done. No doubt in the last 10 years Arunachal got a lot of infrastructure. We got the airport, Railway connectivity reached here," he added.
Arunachal Chief Minister asserted that the state government will focus on increasing connectivity in the state and would also work on education and health.
"Unconnected villages of Arunachal Pradesh and unconnected administrative headquarters, we will give connectivity to all of them in the next years. Connectivity was and will be our top priority. In the social sector, Education and Health are our priorities. we have decided to work on the infrastructure of the schools which are in bad condition," CM Khandu said.
Before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in April, PM Modi asked to be ready with the blueprint for the first 100 days and the next five years for the new government.
The swearing-in ceremony of Pema Khandu held at DK State Convention Centre in Itanagar was attended by Union Ministers Amit Shah, JP Nadda, Kiren Rijiju, and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Khandu, 44, became Chief Minister for the first time in 2016.
He was re-elected as leader of the BJP Legislature Party in Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday, paving the way for him to be sworn in as the Chief Minister for the third straight term.
The BJP won 46 seats in the 60-member Arunachal Pradesh assembly in the elections held simultaneously with the Lok Sabha election. BJP won ten seats unopposed in the state before the elections were held. (ANI)
