"Fight against crime, pollution, unemployment in Delhi": Congress' Alka Lamba on upcoming assembly polls

Speaking to ANI, on contesting the upcoming Delhi state elections, Congress leader Alka Lamba said, "I thank the party for this opportunity. I am going to contest the Vidhan Sabha elections for the 4th time. First, it should be decided if she is a CM or a temporary CM. Former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal called her a temporary CM. He not only insulted the constitutional post and a woman chief minister sitting on that post."

New Delhi [India], January 3 (ANI): Congress leader Alka Lamba, who is contesting against AAP candidate and Delhi Chief Minister Atishi in the Kalkaji constituency in the upcoming assembly elections said that her fight in the polls would be against the crimes, pollution and unemployment in the national capital.
Congress leader Alka Lamba slammed AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal for calling Atishi a "temporary CM," accusing him of disrespecting both the constitutional position and the woman holding that office.
"Now questions are being raised towards CM Atishi asking her whether she is temporary or permanent. My fight is not against a specific individual, because I am not a resident of Delhi, I represent the whole capital," she said.
Adding further, Lamba said, "I was born and brought up here in the soil of Delhi. I have spent 30 years in the national capital and have seen it going from abaad to barbaad. It pains me to see that the people of Delhi are in pain. My fight is not against anyone, it is against the hazardous air, polluted Yamuna and the crimes in Delhi."
Lamba attacked the AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal and said, "The issue was employment and inflation, what did you do? You announced a free bottle of liquor for each one. The age of drinking liquor of youth was reduced from 25 to 21. Charges of corruption were put up against you lost your post as the Chief Minister, and now you remain silent."
"Delhi is waiting for answers. The ten years were meant for development but the government and administration kept fighting with each other-- result being the sufferings of the Delhites," said Lamba.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi slammed the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and said, "Those who have been in power in Delhi for the last 10 years - have damaged school education".
PM Modi also attacked AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal and said, "In the last 10 years, Delhi has been surrounded by an 'Aapda'. By keeping Anna Hazare at the front, a few 'kattar beimaan' people have pushed Delhi towards 'Aapda'. 'AAP aapda bankar Delhi par toot padi hai'."
Hitting back at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Aapda' (crisis) at the Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government, the party's national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Friday highlighted his government's works in the national capital and said that people consider this as a 'Aashirwad' (blessing).
"Jo kaam AAP Sarkar kar rahi hai use log aapda nahi Aashirwad kehte hai (The work the AAP government is doing isn't a crisis; people call it a blessing)," Kejriwal said at a press conference, adding that there are three "Aapda" (crisis) in the BJP itself.
"Aapda Delhi mein nahi BJP mein aayi hai (The crisis isn't in Delhi; it's within the BJP). The first crisis for the BJP is that they don't have a Chief Ministerial face. The second is that they lack a narrative -- they don't even know what issues to contest the election on. The third crisis is that they don't have an agenda for this election. These three crises are within the BJP," he said.
Speaking further, Kejriwal emphasized that over the last 10 years, the AAP government has achieved so much in education, healthcare, electricity, water, and roads that listing of these achievements could take hours."
In contrast, the BJP government hasn't done a single thing in ten years that the Prime Minister could proudly highlight in his speeches. If they had accomplished anything, they would be showcasing it instead of criticizing the people of Delhi," Kejriwal said.
Ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections 2025, the battle between the AAP, BJP and Congress has become intense, with all three parties levelling allegations on each other.
The assembly elections in Delhi are due in February and the dates for the same are expected to be announced in a few days. (ANI)
