Mainpuri (Uttar Pradesh) [India], April 29 (ANI): Samajwadi Party MP and candidate from Mainpuri Lok Sabha constituency, Dimple Yadav reacted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's remark on the Congress' manifesto and in a veiled attack towards the centre said that such statements are being made because the ruling party has itself "failed" to fulfil the promises in their manifesto during 10 years of tenure.
"All the statements coming from senior leaders are not surprising. Whenever elections come, there is a similar change in language. Such things do not sound good to those who talk about Sanatana Dharma because if they know the nature of Sanatana Dharma, they will understand that we are all one, no one is different," Yadav told ANI.
"This kind of thing is being raised continuously in the elections, I understand because these people have failed completely in their manifesto in their 10 years of tenure during which they announced 2 crore jobs, raising farmers' income, building smart cities and reducing inflation," she said.
"Today, if you look at the prices of the cylinder, petrol, diesel, and fertilizers used by farmers, you will understand that the government has failed somewhere and that is why they are making such statements," added Yadav.
The reaction comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier mounted a strong attack on Congress and said that the opposition party is cut off from the hopes and aspirations of today's India and its manifesto reflects the thinking that the Muslim League had during the freedom movement.
In his first reaction to the Congress manifesto, PM Modi said it "completely bears the imprint of the Muslim League" and the remaining part is dominated by the Leftists.
Dimple Yadav is contesting from the Mainpuri seat, and earlier her daughter Aditi Yadav, campaigned for the party in Mainpuri and urged the people to vote for the party.
Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah who was addressing a public rally in Mainpuri on Monday accused the Samajwadi Party of 'family-based politics and questioned why SP couldn't find any other 'Yadav' candidate outside their family.
"I want to ask Akhilesh Yadav, don't you find 'Yadavs' outside your family? They don't belong to anyone. The time has come to finish these family-run parties and make lotus bloom in Mainpuri under PM Modi's leadership," he said.
Earlier in the day, Shah addressed a public meeting in UP's Etah. While taking a jibe at Akhilesh Yadav, Shah said if things were under the SP chief's control, he would have fielded his family members on all the seats in Uttar Pradesh.
UP which sends the maximum 80 MPs to the Lok Sabha, is undergoing polling across all seven phases. The counting of all seven phases of voting will be held on June 4.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged as the winner by securing the majority of seats available.
Of 80 seats, the BJP won 62, followed by the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) with 10 seats, the Samajwadi Party (SP) with 5 seats, and the Apna Dal with 2 seats. (ANI)
