"Factually incorrect, baseless": Election officer denies Sanjay Singh's allegation of voters' name deletion

The DEO further highlighted that as per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India (ECI), the summary of Form 7, which includes the names of both the objectors and objectees, is shared with all recognised political parties including AAP on a weekly basis through Form 10.

New Delhi [India], January 4 (ANI): Refuting "factually incorrect and baseless" allegations of voter name deletions made by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh, the Delhi District Election Officer (DEO) on Saturday said ECI norms were strictly followed to maintain the "integrity and accuracy" of the electoral roll.
On Friday, AAP MPs Sanjay Singh and Raghav Chadha met the New Delhi District Magistrate at Jam Nagar House to lodge a complaint over alleged voters' name deletion.
In a post on X, the DEO, New Delhi, said, "The allegations of Sanjay Singh, MP, Rajya Sabha, that District Election Officer (DEO), New Delhi, did not provide details of objectors and claimed that the DEO is deliberately deleting names of electors from the electoral roll are factually not correct and baseless."
The DEO further highlighted that as per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India (ECI), the summary of Form 7, which includes the names of both the objectors and objectees, is shared with all recognised political parties including AAP on a weekly basis through Form 10.
"Additionally, this information is uploaded on the official website of CEO Delhi for public access and transparency. Hence, the statement that objectors' names are not being shared is factually not correct," it said.
It also mentioned that the process of deleting any name from the electoral roll is carried out strictly in accordance with the guidelines issued by the ECI.
"The process starts with filing of Form 7 and in all such cases, a thorough field verification is conducted by the Booth Level Officers (BLOs), BLO supervisors, and other officers as per prescribed norms. Mere submitting a list for deletion doesn't start the deletion process. The allegation that the DEO, New Delhi, is deliberately deleting the names of genuine electors is entirely baseless and unsubstantiated. All deletions are carried out in strict compliance with ECI norms to maintain the integrity and accuracy of the electoral roll," the DEO said.
On Friday, Sanjay Singh after meeting New Delhi District Magistrate alleged that applications were submitted by the BJP for vote cutting on a very large scale.
"When the District Election Officer was asked to show the names of those who had applied for deletion, he (District Election Officer) was not ready to tell their names...This means that the DM of New Delhi is deliberately cutting votes...We will seek time from the Chief Election Commissioner," Singh said.
