Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], January 24 (ANI): Reacting to the MoUs signed by the Maharashtra government in Davos, Switzerland, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray on Friday said that they could sign such MoUs in India itself and asked what was the need to create "MoUs drama" in Davos and criticised Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, calling it "an eyewash by the CM."
"They signed 54 MoUs...They signed most of the MoUs with local companies. There should be a balance between all companies but MoUs were mostly with Indian companies. This government signed MoUs with builders and real estate...So, why the MoUs drama by the government in Davos? They can sign such MOUs in India itself...Why do you go to Davos, Switzerland and spend crores of rupees there? It's an eyewash by the chief minister. We did not see the Urban Development Minister of Maharashtra in Davos. Industrial Minister Uday Samant was also not in Davos...You signed MoUs with Hiranandani and other Indian builders in Davos," said Aaditya Thackeray while addressing a press conference in Mumbai.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has signed 11 pivotal memorandums of understanding (MoUs) worth USD 40 billion (Rs 3.5 lakh crore) at the prestigious World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland.
These investments, spanning urban transport, regional development, and cutting-edge technologies, will serve as a cornerstone for economic growth and enhanced quality of life in the region over the next 3-5 years, according to an official release.
Marking its golden jubilee, MMRDA celebrated 50 years of transformative growth both locally and globally.
At the World Economic Forum in Davos, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis congratulated MMRDA, while Deputy Chief Minister and MMRDA Chairman Eknath Shinde commended its contributions during a celebration in Mumbai.
Speaking on the issue of Bangladeshi infiltrators, Aaditya Thackeray said, "I want to ask the police commissioner of Mumbai, how many illegal Bangladeshis have they arrested? Compare the UPA government's data with this government. Border areas come under the Central Government and they are not securing it. It's a failure of the central government to stop illegal Bangladeshis." (ANI)
