Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) [India], April 12 (ANI): Union Minister and NDA candidate from Thiruvananthapuram, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, said that the expiration of the PSC rank list for the appointment of Civil Police Officers (CPO) was unfortunate.
The BJP leader termed it an example of the state government's neglect of its responsibilities towards the youth.
He stated that the failure to give appointments to a large chunk of job aspirants on the list despite clearing the rigorous written and physical tests has left many families in the lurch.
Rajeev Chandrasekhar met the CPO rank holders who had been protesting for the last several weeks and interacted with them during a function at LMS in the city. He asserted that the government's complete disregard for their concerns has led to a situation where the issue is seen as another example of hostility towards the youth. He assured them of the measures being taken to address the issue through legal means.
The protesting CPO rank holders had met Rajeev a few weeks ago, seeking his intervention in the issue. As the issue falls within the jurisdiction of the state government, Rajeev wrote a letter to the Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, seeking an immediate solution. However, no response has been received, which is extremely unfortunate, added Rajeev Chandrasekhar.
In April last year, the PSC published the rank list of 13,975 individuals for the post of Civil Police Officers, with only 3100 being appointed.
The remaining aspirants had pinned their hopes on the government's intervention to secure their positions, but their hopes were dashed as the rank list expired on Friday. (ANI)
