Ex-J and K police chief appeals to world community to stand up to terrorism, Pakistan
New Delhi, July 29 (ANI): Former Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police M.M. Khajuria on Friday appealed to the world community to stand up against terrorism and to Pakistan which is waging a proxy war against India. Speaking to ANI on the arrest of Pakistani national Bahadur Ali in the Kupwara encounter, Khajuria said, "This affirms our position that Islamabad is waging a proxy war against India." "The present case is very significant because of its timing. It has happened at a time when Nawaz Sharif has publically owned a self-proclaimed terrorist as a hero, Burhan Wani, and projected him as a leader of Kashmir. Even the Pakistan Government had observed a Black Day in connection with his killing," he said. Asserting that Pakistan wanted to further stoke fires in Kashmir through Wani's death, Khajuria said Islamabad has tried to take benefit from the encounter internationally. "It is important that we look at it through a larger canvas. Now, that they have been trying to internationalise this issue.take Pakistan headlong and let the world community know what they are doing is a very dangerous game and it has huge potential for further escalation in the subcontinent. The world community needs to stand up against terrorism and Pakistan," he added. Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju earlier on Thursday said the arrest of a terrorist in Kupawara is a big success for the security forces, as it has brought the game plan of Pakistan out into the open. Four militants were on Tuesday killed and another apprehended by security forces during an encounter in Naugam sector near the LoC in Kupwara district of Kashmir. The capture comes after last Saturday's encounter with militants along the Line of Control in Kupwara district in which one soldier was killed. This year, there have been several infiltration attempts on the LoC, especially in Kupwara sector, with many infiltrators being killed. (ANI)
