New Delhi [India], Dec. 26 (ANI): Former Indian Air Force (IAF) chief Air Chief Marshal (retired) S P Tyagi was granted bail today in connection with the AgustaWestland VVIP chopper scam case by a special court in New Delhi. Special CBI Judge Arvind Kumar granted Tyagi relief on a personal bond of two lakh rupees and one surety of a similar amount. The court also imposed certain conditions on the accused and asked him not to try to influence witnesses and hamper the probe. The bail applications of other two accused - Tyagi's cousin Sanjeev Tyagi and lawyer Gautam Khaitan - are pending before the court which said it will decide on both the pleas on January 4. Till then, the two will continue to be in judicial custody. Additional Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for CBI, had opposed the bail pleas of the accused, saying if they are set free, they might influence witnesses and hamper the "multi-layered probe by various agencies in more than one jurisdictions involving several countries. Tyagi, 71, who retired from the air force in 2007, Sanjeev and Khaitan were arrested December 9 by the CBI in connection with the case. The court had on December 17 sent all the three accused to judicial custody till December 30. (ANI)
