EVM vs ballot paper: Kejriwal should introspect his loss rather than churning rows, says BJP
New Delhi [India], Mar 15 (ANI): Taking a jibe at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal who recently called for the use of ballot paper alleging that Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) were tampered in the recently concluded assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday advised the former to introspect his cause of loss instead of finding new issues to argue on. Speaking to ANI, BJP leader Mahesh Giri said if Kejriwal is questioning the functioning of the electoral machine then he should tender his resignation in the first place and call for re-polls, as his government in Delhi was formed through counting of votes by EVM mechanism. "Arvind Kejriwal is an intelligent fool. I find this request of his funny as his 67 MLAs were elected through EVM. If Arvind Kejriwal is holding the EVM counting wrong, then first and foremost he should resign and all his MLAs should resign and call for re-polls through paper. He should be introspecting why he lost in the elections, instead of finding the reason for his defeat," said Giri. Echoing similar sentiments another BJP leader R.P. Singh said that Kejriwal is foolish to think of a measure which would take India 'backwards'. "It is very silly and if the Congress is asking for this, then they should ask for re-polling in Punjab as well. They are doing all this to send a message that EVMs were mishandled. It is a foolproof system which has worked for so long, what does he want now? To take the nation backwards to paper system," said Singh. Kejriwal yesterday directed chief secretary MM Kutty to write to the state election commissioner, asking him to hold the upcoming municipal elections through ballot papers. ADD MAYAWATI BG(ANI)
