Channapatna (Karnataka) [India], November 30 (ANI): Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy on Saturday stated that even if Congress leaders were to reincarnate ten times, they would be unable to weaken the Janata Dal (Secular), asserting that his party is not merely "regional" but a "formidable force."
Kumaraswamy visited Channapatna to express gratitude to JDS and BJP workers who supported Nikhil Kumaraswamy in the recent by-elections.
Addressing party workers and the media, he remarked, "Even if Congress leaders reincarnate ten times, they cannot weaken JDS. Today, our party has the strength to contest and win in two districts simultaneously. JDS is not just a regional party; it is a force."
He added, "If Nikhil had been desperate for power, he could have contested from Mandya long ago. But he chose to focus on strengthening the party. This by-election was not part of our plan, but it became necessary. Still, we faced it with courage."
BJP turncoat CP Yogeshwara emerged victorious in the Channapatna Assembly by-elections, defeating JD(S) candidate Nikhil Kumaraswamy by a margin of 25,413 votes.
Kumaraswamy assured party workers that the recent setback would not diminish their determination.
"The people of Channapatna gave us over 87,000 votes. Our workers remain resolute, and we will respond to Congress in the general elections. While Nikhil focuses on building the party across the state, we will work towards winning all constituencies in the district," he affirmed.
He also unveiled plans to bolster the party's organisation throughout Karnataka. "Starting from Sankranti, we will initiate state-wide organisational activities under Nikhil's leadership. This is just the beginning," he announced.
Criticising the state government for the poor condition of healthcare, Kumaraswamy said, "When the Lokayukta visited KC General Hospital, he remarked that it resembled a haunted house. Is this the state of our healthcare system? Four women in their post-pregnancy phase died within a week at the Ballari Government District Hospital. Did any government official even visit them? This is a shameful state of affairs," he said, targeting the Congress government. (ANI)
