Ethics Committee calls Nishikant Dubey, advocate Dehadrai for oral evidence on complaint against Mahua Moitra

New Delhi [India], October 18 (ANI): The Ethics Committee of Parliament has called BJP MP Nishikant Dubey and Advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai, for oral evidence on October 26 in regard to the complaint filed by Dubey against TMC MP Mahua Moitra alleging that she has "a direct involvement in 'cash for query' in Parliament".
In the letter sent by the Privileges and Ethics branch of the Lok Sabha Secretariat, Nishikant Dubey has been asked to appear before the committee on October 26.
"I am directed to state that the Committee on Ethics has decided to hear you in the above matter in person on October 26, 2023, from 1230 hours onwards in Committee Room 1, Parliament House Annexe Extension, New Delhi. Necessary confirmation in this regard may kindly be sent to the Secretariat, latest by 20 October, 2023" the letter said.
The subject the letter is "oral evidence of Dr Nishikant Dubey, MP in respect of complaint dated October 15, 2023, given by him against Smt. Mahua Moitra, MP for alleged direct involvement in cash for query in Parliament".
A similar letter has been sent to Jai Anant Dehadrai.
"I am directed to state that the Committee on Ethics has decided to hear you in the above matter, in person, on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at 1200 hours," it said.
Earlier, on October 15, reacting to the complaint by Dubey on October 15, TMC MP Mahua Moitra in a post on X said," Multiple breach of privileges pending against fake degreewala and other BJP luminaries. Welcome any motions against me right after Speaker finishes dealing with those. Also waiting for ED and others to file FIR in Adani coal scam before coming to my doorstep."
"Am using all my ill-gotten cash and gifts to buy a college/ university in which Degree Dubey can finally buy a real degree. Please Om Birla, Lok Sabha Speaker finish the enquiries against him for false affidavits & then set up my enquiry committee," TMC MP said.
Nishikant Dubey further targeted the TMC MP today. "For information, MPs be alert, now a new law has come in Lok Sabha Secretariat, if we write an application to Lok Sabha Speaker, legal action can be taken against us. Nothing in writing, whatever the owners of LV, GUCCI say that is right."
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla had referred the complaint made by Dubey against Mahua Moitra to the Ethics Committee.
Dubey also wrote to Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Union Minister of State (MoS) IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar, accusing Mahua Moitra of receiving "bribes" from a prominent businessman in lieu of questions and demanding that an inquiry committee be instituted against her.
"Your good self may be aware of the allegations against Mahua Moitra that were presented by an advocate of the Supreme Court of India to the CBI and with my assistance to the Speaker of Lok Sabha. These allegations include that she committed a criminal breach of trust, violated parliamentary ethics, and acted in a manner that was detrimental to India's national security," Dubey wrote in his letter to the two ministers.
In her response to this letter, TMC MP Mahua Moitra asked the IT minister to release all login details of all MPs.
"All parliamentary work of MPs done by PAs, assistants, interns, large teams. Respected @ashwinivaishnaw please release details of location & login details of ALL MPs with CDRs. Please release info on training given to staff to login" she posted on X. (ANI)
