"Electricity bills are high due to privatisation": Misa Bharti responds to PM's 'lalten' jibe
Misa Bharti, Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate from Patliputra Lok Sabha seat on Saturday took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Lalten rule' (lantern rule) remark and said that there is still 'Lalten rule' in Bihar. Speaking with ANI, Misa Bharti slammed the privatisation of electricity and said, "... The electricity bill that people are getting is high due to the privatisation. If the INDIA alliance forms the government, we will provide 200 units of free electricity. There is still 'Lalten rule' in Bihar..."

Patna (Bihar) [India], May 25 (ANI): RJD leader Misa Bharti on Saturday took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his comments against her party pertaining to its 'lalten' election symbol and said privatisation of power had made electricity expensive for households.
She said whatever PM may say, it is 'lalten yug' in Bihar.
"In the villages, the women and people are saying that the electricity bills they are getting are high due to the privatisation. If INDIA alliance forms the government, we will provide 200 units of free electricity. Let PM Modi speak whatever he wants to, there is still 'Lalten yug' in Bihar," Bharti told ANI.
Misa Bharti also accused the government of misusing probe agencies to put opposition leaders in jail.
"All the opposition leaders are being sent to jail so put us in jail today only. For 10 years, you misled people, didn't solve the issue of unemployment, and didn't work to reduce inflation and poverty," she alleged.
Earlier in the day, PM Modi took a jibe at RJD over its election symbol in a rally in Patna.
"This is the era of LED bulbs and people in Bihar are roaming around with a lantern (lalten). This is a lantern that lights up just one house. This lantern has spread darkness all over Bihar," PM Modi had said.
The Prime Minister also targeted RJD and Congress for snatching away the educational opportunities for students of SC/ST/OBC categories. "To please its vote bank, Congress changed the law related to minority institutions overnight. After this, thousands of institutions were declared minority institutions. Earlier, SC/ST/OBC used to get full reservations during admission to these institutions. Because of the RJD-Congress, today SC/ST/OBCs do not get even one per cent reservation in minority institutions. This means that the INDI Alliance has snatched away educational opportunities for lakhs of SC/ST/OBC youth."
The sixth phase of Lok Sabha election was held on 58 seats on Saturday. The Lok Sabha elections will be completed on June 1 after the seventh phase of polls in which voters from 57 constituencies will exercise their franchise. The results will be declared on June 4. (ANI)
