Election Commission to brief state observers on Thursday

New Delhi [India], Mar 13 (ANI): The Election Commission will meet chief election officers and recently-appointed observers of all states on Thursday ahead of the general elections beginning on April 11.

EC will brief officers and observers on Model Code of Conduct

New Delhi [India], Mar 13 (ANI): The Election Commission will meet recently-appointed observers of all states on Thursday ahead of the general elections beginning on April 11.
The closed-door meeting will be held at Vigyan Bhawan in the national capital.
Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora along with Election Commissioners Sushil Chandra and Ashok Lavasa will brief them on the provisions of Model Code of Conduct.
“It will be first interaction between them after the announcement of poll dates," said a senior EC official.
"The observers will be briefed about their role and responsibilities before hitting the ground. They will be briefed about their responsibilities and how to ensure free, fair and transparent elections.”
The observers will act as eyes and ears of the EC and provide direct inputs from the field to ensure that the acts, rules, procedures, instructions and guidelines related to elections are strictly and impartially complied with by all concerned.
"Their inputs and observations will remain confidential,” said the official.(ANI)
