New Delhi [India], August 4 (ANI): Independent MP Pappu Yadav on Monday took a jibe at the BJP and the Election Commission of India (ECI) after the poll body sent a notice to RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav seeking his EPIC card details. Pappu Yadav referred to the Election Commission as 'sandigdh commission' (suspicious commission).
Speaking to the reporters, MP Pappu Yadav alleged that the ECI is working on the behest of the BJP.
"BJP and Modi ji create confusion. Is EC 'Aladdin ka Chirag'? What will they do by sending a notice? The Election Commission is a 'sandigdh commission' (suspicious commission) in itself. They have said that they are BJP spokespersons under all circumstances," he said.
The Electoral Registration Officer in Patna asked Tejashwi Yadav on Sunday to provide the details of the EPIC card he mentioned during his press conference, so that the matter can be thoroughly investigated.
"According to you, from your press conference quote, your import number is RAB2120. As per preliminary investigation import number RAB2916120 does not appear to be officially issued. Therefore, you are requested to kindly provide the details of the mentioned Impic card (along with the original copy of the card) mentioned by you in the press conference held on 02.08.2025 to the undersigned so that it can be thoroughly investigated," the letter read.
Slamming the Election Commission for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll in poll-bound Bihar, Pappu Yadav alleged that the BJP and ECI are attacking the rights of the people of Bihar.
"Congress is the only option. The manner in which there has been an attack on SIR through back doors by the BJP and EC, Bihar's and Biharis' rights have been attacked," he said.
He added that Rahul Gandhi and the INDIA bloc leader will begin their Bihar visits on August 10.
Yadav said, "So, from 10th August, Rahul Gandhi and the alliance will be together, and there will be visits till Katihar."
The row over the draft voter list issued by the Election Commission began when Tejashwi Yadav claimed his name was missing from the list and his EPIC number was changed. Refuting the claim, ECI clarified that Tejashwi's name is included in the draft voter list at serial number 416. (ANI)

TMC's jibe at Centre amid LPG crisis due to West Asia conflict

In an 'X' post, TMC said the government has "ek hi naara, line mein rahe desh bechara," pointing to past governmental measures including demonetisation, the COVID-19 vaccine rollout, the Special Identification Registration (SIR), and now the LPG shortage. The party described demonetisation as a "Tughlaqi farman" that forced ordinary citizens to wait in serpentine queues outside banks and ATMs for days to access their own money. The post also highlighted the 2020 COVID-19 oxygen crisis, when families stood in long lines outside hospitals and suppliers as the public health system collapsed.
