Patna (Bihar) [India], July 9 (ANI): RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Wednesday heavily criticised the Election Commission of India for its decision to revise electoral rolls ahead of the assembly election in Bihar, calling it a "Godi Aayog."
Yadav accused the NDA alliance of using the Election Commission of India to remove the name of "Bihar's poor people" from the voter list.
Speaking at the Bihar Bandh rally, Yadav said, "Today, the Bihar Bandh has been called to address how the Election Commission has become 'Godi Aayog'. NDA is losing, so they are using the Election Commission. Preparations have been going on to remove the names of Bihar's poor people from the voter list under the directions of Modi ji, Amit Shah and Nitish Kumar ji."
"This is a conspiracy to cut off the votes of almost crores of voters, who belong to the poor community, who are standing at the bottom steps of society like the Dalits, backwards class, or extremely backwards class," Yadav added.
He also said that the NDA alliance is preparing to cut off the votes of 4.5 crore people who migrate to other states to earn a living.
Tejashwi Yadav also thanked the INDIA bloc allies, especially Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, for joining the Bihar Bandh rally.
"We want to thank everyone in Mahagathbandhan, especially Rahul Ji, standing shoulder to shoulder with us revolutionaries in today's Bihar Bandh," Yadav said.
Rahul Gandhi, Tejashwi Yadav and several senior leaders of the INDIA bloc, including CPI General Secretary D Raja, CPI (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation leader Dipankar Bhattacharya, Bihar Congress President Rajesh Ram, Kanhaiya Kumar, and Sanjay Yadav, also participated in the protest.
CPI General Secretary D Raja accused the PM Modi-led central government of supporting businessman Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani over poor people
"The Modi government is supporting Ambani and Adani but not the poor people," he said.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission of India said that it is most likely that the exercise of the collection of Enumeration Forms will be completed well before the last day of collection.
According to ECI, the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar is progressing well, with 3,70,77,077 Enumeration Forms, which is 46.95 per cent of the total of 7,89,69,844 (nearly 7.90 crore) electors in Bihar, collected (at 6:00 PM) in the first 14 days since the issuance of SIR instructions on June 24.
