Durrani 26/11 revelation: Congress puts onus on PM Modi to turn up heat on Pakistan
New Delhi [India], Mar. 7 (ANI): Following the revelation made by Pakistan's former national security advisor Mahmud Ali Durrani's on the deadly 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, the Congress Party on Tuesday called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to strongly take up the matter with Islamabad adding that he should also move the International community in declaring Pakistan a 'terrorist state'. Congress leader Randeep Surjewala said that the sensational statement by Durrani established that Pakistan harbors, promotes and exports terror to India and other neighboring countries. "Now the onus lies on Prime Minister Modi to not only strongly take up this matter with Pakistan but also with the International community. Pakistan should stop and abolish all the terrorist camps and hand over the terrorist to India to be prosecuted and punished strongly in accordance with our laws," Surjewala told ANI. Treading a similar stance, another Congress leader Ajay Kumar further noted that it was known from the very beginning that Islamabad is promoting terrorism and on that basis only, was Ajmal Kasab hanged till death. "It is a good sign that at least Pakistan's NSA is accepting this, but India has proven the same from the very beginning and the details have been given to the neighboring country," Kumar told ANI. Earlier on Monday, Durrani said the Mumbai terror attack was carried out by a terror outfit based in Pakistan and added that it was a classic trans-border terrorist event. "The 26/11 Mumbai attack, carried out by a terror group based in Pakistan, is an example of a classic trans-border terrorist event," he said while speaking at the 19th Asian Security Conference being held at the Institute of Defence and Studies and Analyses. He said that because he held on this view, the government was not too pleased and it could one of reasons why he lost his job as the National Security Advisor (NSA). Durrani also said that Jamaat-ud-Dawachief Hafiz Saeed had no utility and Pakistan should act against him. Mahmud Ali Durrani, a retired army general, was the National Security Advisor to the Pakistani government when 10 Pakistani terrorists sneaked into Mumbai after hijacking a boat and killed at least 164 people and wounding 308 across the city.
