Don't want your sympathy, just take action against Dalit atrocities: Mayawati to PM Modi

Saharanpur [India], Sept. 11 (ANI): Continuing her assault on the Centre over their lackadaisical attitude towards Dalit atrocities across the nation, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Sunday took on Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that Dalits wants to see some action taken by his government, and were getting tired of his empty promises. Addressing a vishaal maharally at Chunheti village in Saharanpur, Mayawati continued to criticize the BJP government and asserted that the Dalits don't want the Prime Minister's empty words but only want action taken. "Backward castes and Dalits are very sad by injustice, atrocities, casteism and indifference of the government," she said. Mentioning the cases of Dadri in Uttar Pradesh and Una in Gujarat as burning examples of recent atrocities, Mayawati listed several other communal incidents during the Congress' regimes in the past, while highlighting that no such untoward incidents happened in the state under her rule. Addressing the rally in the western UP district, Mayawati talked about how the government has handed over the big contracts to the private sector where there is no reservation, while cautioning that other parties were conspiring to abolish the facility of reservation. "The government has launched a plan to reduce your reservation quota by increasingly giving importance to the private sector." (ANI)
