Does BJP want to convert India into a Hindu country from RSS's inspiration? asks CPI(M)
New Delhi [India], Oct. 17 (ANI): The Communist Party of India - Marxist (CPI-M) on Monday, slammed the comment made by the Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, where he linked the Surgical strike conducted on September 29 to the teachings of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury questioned the defence minister that if the BJP lead NDA government takes inspiration from RSS then do they intend to change secular, democratic and republic of India into a 'Hindu Rashtra.' "It is very clear that if they are saying that inspiration for surgical strike is because of the RSS. Then they must also answer the question that RSS wants to convert the secular, democratic and republic of India as enshrined in our constitution into their version of the rabidly intolerant theocratic hindu rashtra," he said. "Is that there objective? if that so then they have to say it openly that is what they are trying to do," he added. Speaking at an event in Ahmedabad, the defence minister said, "I came to central government as defence minister, I knew nothing. I used to wonder that a person coming from the state of Mahatma Gandhi as Prime Minister then a person of partial race from Goa as Defence minister and the Surgical strike. This equation can only happened because RSS teaching was the basic code but this was quite a different kind of combination."(ANI)
