Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], October 6 (ANI): Taking a jibe at the ongoing Income Tax raids on properties linked to DMK leaders, Tamil Nadu Minister and party leader Udhayanidhi Stalin said that they have "become like guests" now.
"It is very normal nowadays. When the election comes, raids are conducted. They are like guests for us now. We don't care about it," Udhayanidhi Stalin said while speaking to reporters.
Meanwhile, the income tax department continues its searches at the premises of DMK MP and former Union minister S Jagathrakshakan in Chennai.
This is the second day of IT searches at the premises of the DMK MP. On Thursday the Income Tax Department conducted searches at over 40 locations linked to the former Union Minister.
During the IT operation, two breweries operating in Devariyambakkam and Elayanarvelur areas Kanchipuram and at the DMK MPs cousin Kuppan's house in Wallajabad, Kanchipuram were also searched.
Searches were also conducted at Balaji and Rela Hospitals in Chrompet, Chennai. The hospitals are owned by the
DMK MP S Jagathrakshakan.
Jagathrakshakan is a member of the current Lok Sabha. He was elected from Arakkonam Lok Sabha seat in the 2019 parliamentary election. Jagathrakshakan was a minister of state for commerce and industry in the UPA government under Dr Manmohan Singh.
Speaking on Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi's statement on caste discrimination prevailing in the state, Udhayanidhi Stalin said that he does not refute the claims while adding it is lesser compared to other states. He also accused the Governor of "doing politics without doing his job".
"I don't know whether the governor visited all the other states in our country. I will not say that there is no caste discrimination in Tamil Nadu when compared to other states it is less here. The governor is doing politics unnecessarily without doing his job. People of Tamil Nadu will not accept this," the DMK leader said.
On the ongoing DPI teachers' hunger strike, Udhayanidhi Stalin said that the strike was almost over. "They are making various demands, and we have made promises. The Chief Minister is doing what he can according to the financial situation of the state," he added. (ANI)
