Nagpur (Maharashtra) [India], December 20 (ANI): Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray on Friday condemned the FIR against the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, calling it a "diversionary tactic" and demanded the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah over his statement regarding Dr BR Ambedkar.
"This is all a diversionary tactic... I don't think Rahul Gandhi or any of us is scared... We demand that the Union Home Minister resign because he has insulted Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar," Thackeray told reporters in Nagpur.
Earlier on Thursday, the Delhi Police filed an FIR against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in connection with a scuffle in Parliament.
BJP had filed a complaint against Rahul Gandhi under various sections including 109 (attempt to murder), 115 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), 117 (voluntary causing grievous hurt), 125 (act of endangering life or personal safety of others), 131 (use of criminal force), 351 (criminal intimidation) and 3(5) (common intention).
The Delhi Police removed section 109 (attempt to murder) of BNS and all other sections are the same as given in the complaint.
BJP leader Anurag Thakur, along with fellow MP Bansuri Swaraj and Hemang Joshi, filed the complaint at the Parliament Street Police Station for "assault and incitement."
"A highly unfortunate incident occurred in Parliament, perpetrated by the Congress Party and its leader, Rahul Gandhi. Congress and Rahul Gandhi have a habit of violating the law. Rahul Gandhi's arrogance leads him to believe he is above the law," Anurag Thakur said while talking to the reporters.
As the last day of the Parliament winter session concluded, Congress continued to protest against the remarks of Amit Shah, while BJP also protested against Rahul Gandhi, alleging him of insulting Ambedkar.
Congress MP Jairam Ramesh stated that the FIR against Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi was just a drama enacted by the BJP to distract from the real issues at hand.
"Today, the anger you see in the all (opposition) parties today is after the way the Home Minister used insulting words for Babasaheb Ambedkar. On this Kharge ji demanded that the PM remove the Home Minister from the Cabinet and an apology from the Home Minister," Ramesh said.
"On this, many protests happened across the country. Now, as a part of a conspiracy, this drama was created in front of Makar Dar, two MPs were sent to the ICU and a Rajya Sabha MP was made to write a letter against Rahul Gandhi. This was a planned conspiracy to deviate attention from the Adani issue and Amit Shah's statement," he added.
Union Minister Giriraj Singh also condemned Congress, alleging them of spreading anarchy and reducing the stature of Ambedkar.
"Those (Congress) who spread anarchy now want to become Babasaheb Ambedkar. Now, Babasaheb Ambedkar is being reduced to the stature of Rahul Gandhi!... It is condemnable. Congress should apologise for this," Singh said. (ANI)
