Later speaking to reporters Prasun Banerjee, who created record for representing India in 100 football matches, demanded that Dipa is the 'golden girl' and should be declared the brand ambassador of India Sports for her achievement without any proper infrastructure and with her personal initiative along with her coach. Banerjee, who is a the first professional footballer to be a Member of Indian Parliament, said that earlier he had raised this issue and shall again place in the coming session of the Parliament starting on coming November 9. Criticizing the Centre for not forming any proper sports policy in India, he said it is very unfortunate that once Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee tried to formulate that in 1992, but then Congress Human Resource Minister Arjun Singh did not allow that to happen. He assured all possible help to Dipa from his party and said that she shall surely bring gold medal for India from the next Olympics in Japan.
