Hazaribagh (Jharkhand) [India], October 2 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said that Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan in Jharkhand will benefit the tribal people of Jharkhand "greatly" as it aims to connect the "unconnected section of tribal population' with the government schemes. This scheme has been named after freedom fighter Birsa Munda.
"We have started celebrating Janjatiya Gaurav Divas on the birthday of Lord Birsa Munda... Lord Birsa Munda is called 'Dharti Aaba'. On his name Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan has started in today's time. This scheme aims to connect those tribal people with government schemes, who have not yet got the benefit of government schemes..." PM Modi said while addressing Parivartan Mahasabha in Hazaribagh.
PM Modi said, "Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan, Mobile Medical Units, Electricity, Water, Solar Energy and other similar schemes will greatly benefit the people of Jharkhand. These schemes will bring a huge change in the lives of the tribal community here. They will get a chance to move forward."
The Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan scheme with a total outlay of over Rs 79,150 crore.
PM Modi also lashed out at the Congress and accused it of ignoring the contribution of tribal community into the freedom struggle. In a veiled attack on Congress, he said that all the schemes in the country are in the name of the sons and daughters of "one family."
"In order to give recognition to one of its families, Congress erased the identity of tribal families living in every corner of the country. Congress never gave importance to the tribal community which made such a huge contribution in the freedom struggle. All the schemes are in the name of the sons and daughters of one family, all the roads, all the buildings are in the name of the sons and daughters of one family, such nepotism-oriented thinking has done a lot of harm to the country," PM Modi said.
He further praised the BJP for building a tribal museum in Ranchi dedicated to Birsa Munda and said that the BJP-led government is giving the respect to the tribal heroes.
"Today I am proud that our government is giving full respect to tribal heroes. It is the BJP which has started the campaign to build a tribal museum. A museum dedicated to Lord Birsa Munda has been built in Ranchi. We have started celebrating Tribal Pride Day on the birthday of Lord Birsa Munda," he added.
PM Modi expressed joy over his visit to Jharkhand and said he has formed a unique relationship with Jharkhand which is why he keep coming to the state.
He said, "Today, on the auspicious occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, I have got the privilege of coming here. Gandhiji came to Hazaribagh in 1925 during the freedom movement. Bapu's thoughts, his teachings are part of our resolutions. I salute Bapu, and pay tribute to him. Earlier in 2015, I was in Khunti, Jharkhand on October 2 where I inaugurated 16 rooftop power plants. I and BJP have formed a unique relationship with Jharkhand. This relationship is of dreams and hearts and that's why Jharkhand remembers me again and again and I come also. Earlier when I came to Jameshedpur, there were lot of climatic hurdles but I had decided I won't go without meeting Jharkhand and my tribal friends."
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized that the tribal community will progress when the youth will get good education and for that the central government is working hard towards building Eklavya Model Residential Schools in the tribal areas.
Addressing the public gathering in Jharkhand's Hazaribagh, PM Modi said that 40 Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) are being inaugurated and foundation stones have been laid for 25 more EMRS.
"Our tribal community will progress when tribal youth will get the opportunity for good education. For this, our government is working hard towards building Eklavya Model Residential Schools in tribal areas. From here, 40 Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) are being inaugurated and foundation stones have been laid for 25 EMRS," PM Modi said.
Jharkhand is expected to hold elections for its 81-member legislative assembly by December 2024, as the current government's tenure is set to end in January 2025. The Election Commission is yet to announce the election schedule.
In the 2020 assembly election, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha won 30 seats, the Bharatiya Janta Party 25 and the Congress won 16. (ANI)
