New Delhi [India], July 1 (ANI): Coming out in support of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his remarks on the Hindu community, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Rajya Sabha MP Manoj Jha said on Monday that the debate gets heated sometimes in parliament but what Rahul Gandhi said should be understood by everyone that no one has the contract of the Hindu religion.
"This should not be called an attack. There is a debate going on in the parliament as well. The debate will get heated sometimes, this is an ideological debate and what he (Rahul Gandhi) said should be understood by everyone. Nobody has the contract of the Hindu religion. 'Dharam ki thekedari' goes on in politics and he has taken a very good initiative on this, which should be welcomed," Manoj Jha said.
Earlier today, RJD Lok Sabha MP Misa Bharti said that Rahul Gandhi didn't say that Hindus spread hate, instead he said that the BJP spreads hate.
"He (Rahul Gandhi) said for all religions and not just Hinduism. He (Rahul Gandhi) didn't say Hindus spread hate, he said BJP spreads hate. They are demanding that Rahul apologise for the Emergency. Why do they talk about something which happened around 50 years ago? Prime Minister talks about everything except Manipur. Why do they don't discuss their 10 years. They are not ready to have a discussion on the NEET issue," Bharti said.
Lok Sabha witnessed an uproar over Rahul Gandhi's remarks pertaining to the Hindu community with Home Minister Amit Shah saying that the Congress leader should apologise over his remarks.
"Abhayamudra is the symbol of Congress...The Abhayamudra is the gesture of fearlessness, is the gesture of reassurance and safety, which dispels fear and accords divine protection and bliss in Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism, Buddhism and other Indian religions....All our great men have spoken about non-violence and finishing fear...But, those who call themselves Hindu only talk about violence, hatred, untruth...Aap Hindu ho hi nahi," Rahul Gandhi said.
Home Minister Amit Shah targeted Rahul Gandhi and said connecting violence with any religion is wrong.
"The Leader of Opposition has categorically said that those who call themselves Hindu talk of violence and do violence. He doesn't know that crores of people proudly call themselves Hindu. Connecting violence with any religion is wrong. He should apologise," Amit Shah said.
The Prime Minister took a dig at Rahul Gandhi over his remarks and said democracy has taught him to take LoP seriously.
"Democracy and the Constitution have taught me that I need to take the Leader of Opposition seriously," PM Modi said. (ANI)
