Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], October 28 (ANI): Ahead of the upcoming bypoll in the Kedarnath assembly constituency, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated on Monday that development initiatives led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi have transformed Kedarnath. He added that the state government is committed to further development in the area, with several schemes in the pipeline.
"The development work led by PM Modi has transformed Kedarnath. Our government is committed to the development of Kedarnath Dham...We are focused on progress. People have seen our work following the Kedarnath tragedy. Many schemes have been approved for the region," said CM Dhami.
Speaking about the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Asha Nautiyal from the Kedarnath constituency, Dhami noted that Nautiyal has previously represented Kedarnath twice and understands the region's challenges.
"I am confident that Asha Nautiyal, having represented Kedarnath twice before, will drive development in the region. We will all work towards growth. The dreams and promises of Shaila Rani Rawat will be fulfilled," the Chief Minister said.
Dhami further highlighted the Uttarakhand government's efforts to foster transparency in administration, aiming to eliminate corruption.
Earlier, the Chief Minister accompanied BJP candidate Nautiyal for her nomination filing in the Kedarnath constituency, where the by-election is scheduled to be held.
Addressing a gathering at an event preceding the bypoll, CM Dhami criticised the Congress for engaging in corruption and promoting appeasement.
"On one side, there is our BJP government, and on the other, Congress leaders who endorse corruption and appeasement. Under Congress rule, scams occurred daily, spanning various areas," he remarked.
"Congress spread lies and sowed confusion regarding Baba Kedarnath, whereas our goal is to preserve faith and devotion towards our sacred sites. A temple was established in the name of Badrinath in Mumbai, which the Congress government ignored. Baba Kedar will hold Congress accountable for their lies," the Chief Minister added.
Dhami also mentioned that the state government will soon introduce strict land laws, affirming that numerous development projects have already been undertaken in Kedarnath.
"We will soon implement strict land laws, as our motto is that only BJP can and will deliver. I previously stated that until Kedarnath has a new MLA, I would act as its MLA, and we have since accomplished many developmental works in Kedarnath," he said. (ANI)
